 The Order of the Earth is going to start running classified ads for $.25 a word. Is there anything you want to sell that can be mailed or services you want to provide or anything else that typically goes in a classified ad? These need to be pre-paid. The deadline is November 10. |
The nation's first global warming, hard-copy newspaper was launched on January 1, 2008 after seven years of development as an environmental newsletter. Unlike ordinary newspapers, "The Order of the Earth: News, Views and Musings" will focus on global warming and have a greater focus on women and young people, peace and sustainable communities than most other papers have. The monthly tabloid emphasizes the importance of protecting forests and trees in the effort to soften the tragedies predicted from severe and sudden climate change. It is also a beautiful newspaper, reflecting the glory of the planet we call "home."
Iona Conner, Publisher and Editor, has been an environmentalist for over 40 years. She is a former New Jersey air pollution inspector and first realized that we were "cooking the planet" while in training to monitor industrial smokestacks back in 1986. It didn't take much imagination to translate the visible factory stacks into hidden "stacks" which spurt out invisible greenhouse gas pollutants as fossil fuels heat and cool every house, school, business and church. Then, as Iona was learning the art of smoke evaluation, she imagined every single car and truck in the heavily trafficked corridors of central New Jersey as also having "stacks," horizontal ones.
Now the seriousness of catastrophic climate change is upon us and people all over the world are trying to come up with alternatives to burning coal, oil or gas. "The Order of the Earth News" highlights successful grassroots news stories from the United States and other countries. The paper's upbeat spirit encourages others to take serious action, withdraw from deadly and insane ways of living, and get involved with others to build stronger local communities and to influence governments and corporations to work toward survival of ecosystems everywhere.
Articles are written by strong, intelligent, compassionate people who have messages to inspire each of us to delve more deeply into our own actions and to help readers understand what's really happening to the world in terms of global warming and political paralysis.
"The Order of the Earth News" brings the environmental community into the homes of the mainstream community through a distribution channel of local coffee shops, libraries, businesses and bookstores. Environmental groups from across the country which are working to preserve the life of the planet are featured, as are individuals who are thinking creatively to solve the problems we all face.
